Back in 2011, I created a simple rainbow gradient which I uploaded here where anyone can use it who is looking to make rainbow images in inkscape. https://openclipart.org/detail/164359/rainbow-gradient This image of the flower of life is an application of using that gradient. I think it looks pretty cool.
