Description
The Blessed Virgin Mary reads a book just before the angel announces to her that she will conceive and give birth to Jesus Christ without sin. The drawing is the centerpiece of an engraving by the Flemish engraver, publisher, and art dealer Jan-Baptiste Barbé (1578–1649). My modification is that I have replaced the lavish remainder of the engraving with a simple oval frame, much closer to modern man.
